Bio Details:

   

Megumi gained her B.A. in English Literature in Tokyo Japan. On arriving in Australia
in 1974 she continued to develop the bonsai and ikebana skills she had learnt in Japan. Megumi is a qualified horticulturist a graduate of the Ryde School of Horticulture, where she taught bonsai. 

In 1999 she founded the Bonsai Society of Sydney inc and is also a member of the Nippon Bonsai Association and Bonsai Club International inc. For many years Megumi has given demonstrations, exhibitions throughout Australia, She is a contributor to articles on bonsai in Australia and overseas. Her first solo exhibition took place at the Japan Foundation Sydney in 1997. She was also co-exhibitor of Bonsai and Bonseki Exhibition at Japan foundation Sydney in 1999
In August 2005, Bonsai Society of Sydney hosted 18th AABC Bonsai Convention “Magic of kimura” at Sydney show ground, Olympic Park,

In November 2006 she received The Foreign Ministerial Award from the foreign
Minister of Japan and in November 2008 received the bonsai instructor’s qualification from the Nippon Bonsai Association. She is the first overseas person to receive this
recognition,. which qualified her as a bonsai artist, teacher, demonstrator and lecturer.

 

Special Subjects

Favorite material includes Japanese black pine, Shimpaku, Procumbans junipers, Japanese maples, Trident maples, Banksia and Ficus. Experienced in bending heavy trunks and styling of all Japanese bonsai forms
